Young couple embracing each other
couples Support group
This is a 9-week psychoeducational support group with four (4) couples using the RelateStrong curriculum designed to help couples to strengthen their couple bond. The group provides couples with relationship skills that will change the way they interact with others and offers an opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships with other couples. We have run these groups with a group of couple friends, organizational leaders with their partners, members in the church (option to integrate Christian faith), and premarital couples who do not know each other to help facilitate deeper community and meaningful conversations. These groups consist of 8 participants (not including the therapist). Limited sliding scale is available upon inquiry.
the following topics will be covered:
Discovering the truth about partnership/marriage and how the past affects current relationships
Identifying the heart of the conflict cycle and learning constructive ways to manage conflict
Understanding family of origin boundaries and how to nurture healthy boundaries in marriage
Embracing couple differences in personality characteristics
Learning about your strengths and how to encourage in each other in growth
Deciding as a couple how to benefit the relationship
Learning about who the couple is together and the definition of “us-ness”
