Elizabeth Oh, AMFT

AMFT #123075

I am a registered associate marriage and family therapist and brainspotting practitioner working under supervision of Hatty J. Lee, LMFT #83772 in Los Angeles, California. My clinical experiences over the last 4 years includes working with a diverse clientele of children, couples, families, and adults in school settings, community mental health, and private practice. I have completed over 3000 clinical hours and am currently preparing for my licensure exam.

I currently work with adolescents (ages 8-18), young adults, couples, and adults, supporting those of you navigating major life transitions, anxiety, depression, body image issues, self-esteem difficulties, intergenerational family dynamics, and the Asian-American experience. As a southern California native and Korean-American, I identify as a second generation immigrant child and deeply understand the various nuances of culture that impact your perspective on life and the ways you cope throughout different seasons. When you are in the trenches of life, it can feel isolating. I have seen the power of therapy in my own life, and I hope to offer the power of a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental space for my clients.

Whenever possible, I incorporate my experiences from my previous career as an elementary school teacher in both my work with children, parents, and adults who have once all been children. I recognize the importance of tending to the unmet needs of our inner child with gentlness and care. I integrate my understanding of child development alongside the various developmental stages that adults navigate. My clients often provide me feedback that my approach has helped them make sense of themselves, their histories, and the work they need to invest for themselves moving forward.

Therapy is not a one size fits all model. I tailor my approach to each of my client’s specific needs. I work primarily in the Restoration Therapy model and pull from the Gottman method which I utilize for both individuals and couples seeking to cultivate healthier and more fulfilling relationships. I also integrate brainspotting, which is a somatic based therapy model that provides a different approach to processing and exploring your body’s ability to heal from trauma. With these different models, you can expect to be gently challenged to explore your unhealthy thought patterns and cycles that have impacted your relationships. I welcome a collaborative and client centered approach so that you feel encouraged to do the work outside of the therapy room. I offer practical tools to apply to your life, and want you to feel empowered to practice various ways to improve your relationship with others and yourself. My hope is to walk alongside with you to cultivate growth and empowerment in your season of life.
